The Perspective of a Blind Eye: Eva Jiřička

Eva Jiricka

Eva Jiřička (1979) was born and is currently based in Prague. She has completed her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Czech Republic in 2006. Conceptual thinking that enables Jiřička to oscillate on the border of various media and subject matter is a symptomatic element in her work. The aim and the process to fully understand others are also central to her artistic practice. This shift towards the individual is consequently confronted with her own perspective. Nevertheless, her personal view of the situation always provides room for subjective interpretation from the side of the spectator.

The focal point of the exhibition is the process of perceiving the local through the prism of the „other“. Based on subjective impressions and points of view, the project aims to comprehend and analyze the indigenous, in order to scrutinize and elaborate on its subjects. Although individual works seem to revolve predominantly around issues of the social, their meaning functions on multiple conceptual levels and thus avoids the notion of presenting a reductive view up on reality.
